S. and e. India (two locations: w. Ghats from Belgaum and inland from Goa s. to the Nilgiris and hill tracts of s. Kerala and highlands of Assam and Manipur where it migrates through the valley between the hills of Shillong and Imphal in the Haflong District), se. China (Kwangsi, s. Yunnan in the Yao Shan and Hainan Is.), Taiwan (Taipei), Japan (s. Ryukyu Is.), e. and w. Burma (Ramree Is., s. Shan States, Tenasserim), Thailand (except the c. region), Indochina, Nicobar Is., Java, Palawan Is. and throughout the Philippines. Possibly Talaud Is.
Winters in Sri Lanka, Malaya, Sumatra, Java and Borneo.
