India to se. Asia, Sundas, Philippines, New Guinea and coastal Australia;
Many populations;
S. and e. India n. along the w. coast to Bombay, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, se. China n. to Fukien, Hainan, Taiwan and s. in the Laccadive Is., Andaman Is., Nicobar Is., Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Philippines, New Guinea including lowland rivers, Bismarck Archipelago, Australia (coastal Western Australia extending inland in n. Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria becoming coastal again in South Australia, and Tasmania.
