Nw. India to se. Asia to the Greater Sundas and Sulawesi;
Several populations;
(1) Himalayas from n. India (Kashmir to Assam) through Nepal to Bangladesh, Burma, Laos, n. Vietnam (nw. Tonkin) and Hainan Is.
(2) Malay Peninsula of Burma (Tenasserim) and nw. peninsular Thailand to s. Sumatra, Borneo, n. Natuna Is. (Natuna Bessar) Sulawesi (Peleng Is. and Butung Is.), Banggai Is. and recently from the s. Moluccas (Buru Is.).
