Range
W., se. and and s. Africa;
Fragmented distribution in w. Africa;
Two main populations;
(1) Senegambia and Guinea-Bissau, Liberia and Ivory Coast to n. Ghana. Possibly in Togo and c. Nigeria.
(2) S. and e. Zaire, Rwanda, Burundi, sw. Uganda, c. Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe and w. to n. Namibia and Angola.
(3) South Africa (n. Natal, Transvaal to e. Cape Province).
